Enhancing safety for those on the front lines of aid

UNMAS Iraq recently hosted an in-person explosive ordnance information session in Erbil for NGO workers and UN employees.

With the shifting threat landscape, this session introduced safety tips on a vital new element: one-way attack drones.

Alongside our traditional safety presentations, participants took part in an hands-on VR interactive experience to safely simulate hazard identification in real-time.
Equipping humanitarian workers with the tools and knowledge to stay safe while delivering life-saving aid.

Strengthening Victim Assistance for Survivors of Explosive Ordnance Incidents in Sudan

This month, UNMAS EORE and VA Specialist, Audrey, co-led, with the NMAC, a victim assistance training for 22 mine action partners from Khartoum, Kassala and North Kordofan.

Through sector consultations, roundtables and trainings, partners:
👉reviewed approaches to identify EO victims, existing services and gaps
👉strengthened referrals, inclusion and reporting systems for explosive ordnance-related survivors in Sudan.

With many thanks to the generous support of Global Affairs Canada for making this training possible, and NMAC for their collaboration and coordination.
