Despite spending much of their lives on the water, loons are not ducks.
They belong to an entirely different bird family — one uniquely adapted for diving, swimming, and life on northern lakes.
It’s one of the many fascinating things we learned during our recent ADK Talks conversation with the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation about loon behavior, lake health, and conservation in the Adirondacks.
