On Sunday afternoon, June 26, the National Ballet of Canada closed the 2021/2022 season with a performance of the reimagined staging of the Erik Bruhn version of Swan Lake. The new staging is the vision of retiring Artistic Director, Karen Kain. It was also the occasion for the incoming director, Hope Muir, to announce the promotion of Genevieve Penn Nabity to principal dancer. Genevieve had just performed the double role of Odette/Odile with Christopher Gerty as Siegfried, Ben Rudisin as Rothbart, and Spencer Hack as Benno, Siegried's closest friend. These are my pictures of the curtain call and the announcement of the promotion.
