We use the tools that we train with. Traditional midwives train with tools like being patient with time, experiencing normal birth, and lots and lots of time with highly experienced mentors. Obstetricians train with emergencies, their surgical tools, and not a lot of time was normal Birth.

Birth is a normal physiological process. Best to save those surgeons and high risk experts for when birth leaves normal and needs those specialty tools and skills.
