Lebo Pride

Lebo Pride wants to extend special thanks to the team of volunteers who, armed with nothing but colorful umbrellas, microphones, dance moves and a deep sense of commitment to respect, love and humanity, created a human force field against ignorance and hostility. With the trademark resilience of the LGBTQ+ community and its devoted allies, what emerged was EVEN MORE beauty, joy and unity - the true spirit of the historic origins of PRIDE! So, again, thank you to our Safety & Security volunteers!, including Lebo Pride Board Member Sarah Jane, Nick Sfakianakis, Sarra Terry, Amber Tindall, Gabrielle Soisson, Mary Ullman, Kevin Brand, Jim Semeraro, Daniel-Raymond Nadon ... and all the folks who spontaneously joined the team as the need arose (particularly the member of the Pittsburgh Pride Choir). You all are heroes!

There are NO letters large enough to express our thanks to Alisa Shetter Zisman of Card My Yard Pittsburgh - South, PA for the generous donation of the fabulous and fun signage at Lebo Pride yesterday. Alisa contacted us out of the blue, unsolicited, and said she and her business wanted to do something to highlight and celebrate Lebo Pride. It was a really nice touch and a great welcome to the event. If you had a chance to snap a pic with the sign, please share it. We love to see those smiling faces full of joy and PRIDE!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, tabled and/or attended yesterday's wonderful Lebo Pride celebration. We had a beautiful day ... and we don't just mean the weather! Some of our favorite moments included:
-- the Pittsburgh Pride Choir's stirring concert
-- Akasha L. Van Cartier's loving and laughter-filled story time (we still don't know what sound a capybara makes)
-- the karaoke performances of some VERY talented singers
-- the response/resistance through music and dance to hate speech from a protester - we could not be more moved by the simultaneously defiant and joyful spontaneous performance by our q***r teens in attendance! Special thanks to Mary Ullman for bringing the amp, microphones and fierce dance moves!
