- What we know today as the westbound lanes from Illinois into Iowa opened in 1935
- The eastbound lanes from Iowa into Illinois opened in 1960
- The bridge was designed by engineer Ralph Modjeski (he also engineered the Government Bridge and almost 40 other bridges across rivers all over the country)
- Before 1970, the bridge charged tolls - 15 or 30 cents per vehicle depending on weight
-The bridge became part of Interstate 74 in 1975
- The I-74 Bridge is the most-traveled bridge in the Quad Cities
