🐾❤️ What medications are used during a goodbye visit?

Many families wonder what the process involves and whether their pet will be comfortable throughout the visit.

At EverLoved Veterinary, Dr. Kristin Crocker uses a comfort-first approach designed to help pets remain calm, relaxed, and peaceful. The process begins with a gentle oral medication applied to your pet's gums to help reduce anxiety and promote relaxation.

Once your pet is comfortable, a carefully selected combination of sedatives and pain-relieving medications is administered to help them drift into a deep, restful sleep. During this stage, pets are completely relaxed and unaware of their surroundings, allowing families to spend quiet, meaningful moments together.

After your pet is fully asleep, an additional medication is administered to gently help the body come to rest. Because pets are already in a deep state of sleep, they remain peaceful and unaware throughout this last step.

EverLoved Veterinary provides compassionate in-home pet euthanasia and peaceful goodbye visits at our Veterinary Goodbye Center for families throughout Mobile, Fairhope, Daphne, Foley, and surrounding Alabama Gulf Coast communities.

After a companion passes, other pets may feel the loss too.

You might notice changes in behavior—more quiet moments, searching, or wanting to stay
close.

These are natural responses as they adjust to a new routine without their friend.

With time, patience, and love, most pets begin to settle again. Keeping familiar routines and
offering comfort can help them feel safe during this transition.

If you’re navigating this with your pet, you’re not alone 🤍
