Generational trauma has a way of convincing people that fear is respect, obedience is emotional health, and harshness is what prepares children for the “real world.”

So when someone chooses gentleness, respects a child’s boundaries, allows room for mistakes, or leads with connection instead of control, it can feel wrong to those who were never given those things themselves.

Children do not become emotionally healthy adults by being shamed, dismissed, or hardened. They grow through safety, guidance, accountability, and relationships built on trust.

Breaking cycles often feels uncomfortable before it feels healing.
