✨️ Mini Book Review ✨️
The Open Era by Edward Schmit
Austin Hardy is a recently turned pro tennis player who fought his way through the qualifiers to make it into his first US Open. Playing in, and winning, the US Open is a dream for him but the further he gets the more his anxiety starts to take over. When world number two Diego Cruz befriends him, and starts working his way more into Austin's life, he starts to wonder why, especially when their feelings start to feel like more than friendship.
I really enjoyed how this book handled anxiety and the impacts on both tennis and someone in general. We get to see Austin work through his own perceptions and thoughts throughout the book. I also really enjoyed how Austin was already out, making this story less of a coming out story overall.

In Your Court by Kit Haley
Matteo Russo was meant to be the next big thing. But a car accident derailed his career and trying to fight his way back into professional tennis has been a long road. It doesn't help that he travels light, with no team, staying in sh*tty hotels, and paying his own way. When he challenges his biggest rival to "live like I do" he doesn't expect him to do it, and move into the crappy apartment across the hall.
Matteo also doesn't expect Miles to want to hang out, or kiss him. Now their budding feelings may be the only thing that gets in the way of Matteo's comeback.
I really loved seeing all sports romance get their fair shot at q***r romance. This one definitely has some Heated Rivalry vibes with the two being competition before hooking up secretly. Some moments of the overall story were frustrating but overall I enjoyed it.
