Soaps & Candles
Mission: To help others see Christ, sharing the good news through the analogy of soap making and th
e lighting of a candle. We are all born into sin. The oil is our original, born-into-sin self. More oils. When we add and mix oils, this is like our experiences and mistakes we’ve made in life on our journey to the truth. This is the toxic, rock bottom for some, and when we’ve reached the end of ourselves, and realize we can’t do it on our own. Distilled Water. This is the living, purified water that Jesus provides. The process. When we pour the toxic lye into the purified water, it dissolves. Jesus dissolves our sins, forgiving us! When the water and lye mixture is added to the oils, it mixes in and begins the saponification process. Saponification is the process of removing colorless, contaminating lipid material and destroying chlorophyll if present. When we add our surrendered self to Jesus, and allow Jesus to lead our lives, he cleans us up, he sanctifies us, sets us a part for something special! Fragrance. When we are living a life in Christ, we become a pleasing aroma to God. Color. As we walk around living a life in Christ, we are shining bright. We are a light in the darkness. CANDLES--When we light a candle we can remember that the darkness has never overcome the light, and that, as believers, are called to be the light of Jesus! When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
-John 8:12, NIV

-John 1:5
You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.
-Psalms 18:28
