Waldorf Astoria Set To Take Over W South Beach

Seventeen years at 2201 Collins: the lobby art collection that was actually worth looking at, Wall nights that ran later than they should have, that pool deck. Now it gets its biggest headline yet — and less runway than you’d think.

Hilton and the Reuben Brothers are transforming the property into Waldorf Astoria Miami Beach — the brand’s first hotel on the beach, reopening Winter 2027. The 20-story tower stays. What’s coming: 348 ocean-view suites redone top to bottom, a new arrival anchored by Peacock Alley, new restaurants, a bigger spa, reworked pools.

It’s also the biggest name yet in a full Collins Ave reset — the Delano’s back after a $100M redo, the Shelborne reopened as a Proper, and the Raleigh, Shore Club and SLS are all mid-transformation.

Know before you go: no official closing date announced, but you can only book through mid-August. If the W is on your summer calendar.
