I have had to do a substantial bit of unlearning in my meager early adult life. I grew up surrounded by hatred of infinite color and resolve. Anger was always confusing to me. I can understand the itch of anger and the need for impulsive people to scratch it, but don’t we see that hatred is so incredibly pointless? The more I think about myself and my relationships as well as my miniscule effect on the relative world around me, I begin to form the opinion that the requirements to effect change are beyond my limits. I no longer possess a naïve desire to make an impact on the world. I have enough to worry about right here with my family. That’s enough for me. Marcus Aurelius said “Why should you be angry at the world? As if the world would notice!” – Unlearning the hate and anger has made me a peaceful man. I wrote this tune, Sulphur in the Well, about having to unlearn the wrongs you were taught your whole life. Give thanks for others who lend you a drink from their well, though be wary, the well from which they quench themselves may be poisoned sevenfold.

I've written a few songs in the last 6 months, and I haven't liked any of them. I went back over them again this morning and fell in love again. I don't have the ability to make another studio album this year, but I'll be doing 5 or 6 field recordings this fall. Check out the YouTube channel for those and more, I'll share them here as well.
