5. Unconditional support from my family is the reason why I am here today. I may be a journalist, but words alone will never be able to capture my appreciation. My daily commitment to strengthen our community will forever be my way of saying "thank you" to everyone who believed in me. I'm here because of you! I was born in Miami and grew up in West Palm Beach, so it's safe to say that I'm a "hometown girl." I've also been an eyewitness to South Florida's changing landscape over the decades. I attended The Benjamin School for grades 6-12 and later graduated from the University of Miami with honors. My love for broadcast journalism blossomed during my college days as an executive producer for UMTV Today. My involvement with UMTV and Zeta Tau Alpha kept me busy on campus, but my enthusiasm led me off campus, too. I interned at WTVJ, the NBC station in Miami, and was selected to serve as a production assistant for Super Bowl XLI. The experience of working alongside the television industry's top talent will always hold a very special place in my heart. A few lesser-known facts about me: I love to dance and performed with The Benjamin School dance team and the Palm Beach Ballet Center in countless musicals, recitals and football games -- including the Orange Bowl. I was also crowned Miss Palm Beach County USA and Miss Treasure Coast USA. I'm a proud professional member of NABJ, but I really light up when I volunteer and mentor children. I'm honored and humbled to represent the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast once again, while capturing the region's growth and history with distinction. Eleanor Roosevelt was right. The future truly belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. This new chapter marks the ultimate homecoming and I'm forever grateful to be back. Thank you again for allowing me to share your stories and remind us all that together WE CAN make a difference. There's no place like home!
