If you were to purchase a $500,000 home at current at the current Mortgage rate with a standard 30 year loan, and only paid the minimum amount on your mortgage over the course of the loan(which most people will do)…

You would need to sell your house for at least $1.3-1.5 Million to have made a profit on the sale of your home when you factor in sales tax and realtors fees.

You are literally paying more in interest than the purchase price of the home. On the next slide you can see that it would take you over 7 years just to knock $50k off the principal.
