Did I Just Read That?
Is it just me, or does Cedar Creek Lake feel... off lately?
I was out by the Seven Points side yesterday, near the old bridge, and I saw something I wasn’t supposed to see. We all know the lake was man-made in the 60s, but has anyone ever actually looked at the old maps of the towns they flooded to make it?
I met an old-timer at a diner who told me they didn't just move the houses—they left the old cemetery at the bottom of the deepest trench. He said the "stumps" people hit with their boats aren't all trees. Some of them are the tops of old iron fences.
But here’s the controversial part: The city knows. I found a "No Trespassing" sign near a drainage pipe that wasn't there last week. When I peeked inside, there were fresh flowers and a pair of children's shoes sitting on the concrete. Not old, rotted ones. New ones.
People say the "drownings" every summer aren't accidents. They say the lake is just taking back what we buried underneath it. If you’re swimming and feel something cold grab your ankle... it’s not a catfish.
Parents who 'trap' Leprechauns by making a mess of their house and turning the toilet water green are just teaching their kids that breaking and entering is okay as long as the suspect is short and leaves glitter. You’re raising future criminals
