I'd just presented at our company's quarterly conference to 200+ people and one of the most senior people in the room was giving me the rundown on how she thought I'd done.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She didn't mention the quality of the content I'd shared.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She didn't ask for more details on the project.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And she didn't mention the impact my work was making.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yes, I'm blonde.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yes, I'm bubbly.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I get s**t done. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can have a sense of humour AND make the difficult decisions.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can dress nicely and professionally AND provide incredible value to the project.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can have a mild hedgehog obsession AND deliver amazing results.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And when I started my own business it was a bit of a lightbulb moment for me.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I no longer wanted to have to play by corporate's rules. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The rules of smiling and nodding.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And saying the right thing.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And fitting in the company box. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because I wanted to own all the "and"s.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I wanted to work until 10.30PM one day AND take the next day off.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I wanted to be friendly with my clients AND be able to give them unparalleled support.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I wanted to be able to show up as myself online AND command credibility in the retention and loyalty space.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I like to think I'm doing exactly that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here's to all the 'and' lovers out there. The world is a lot more fun with us in it.

[EXPOSED DAY 17] Here's why your members are cancelling - let me know if this sounds familiar!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You launched your membership with a clear idea of what you wanted to help your members with.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But over the past few months and years, you've been adding things - largely because your members asked for new features.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Before you know it, what started out as a sweet, manageable membership has turned into a tidal wave that comes crashing down on you every single week. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's exhausting.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But you want to do the best for your members, so you crack on.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Except, even though your members said they wanted more from you - that's not really what they wanted. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know, I know. It's counterintuitive. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But they're overwhelmed and now they're not engaging - at all.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And so maybe one month goes by. Maybe two.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And your members start to realise they're not using their membership. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It must not be very good because they're not seeing the result they'd hoped from it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Except, as previously stated, they're not using it. How can anyone complain that their car isn't effective as a means to get to a destination if they don't get in and turn on the ignition?).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And they cancel.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And now you're doing a lot for your members. But they're cancelling.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Oh, and because you wanted to help as many people as possible your prices are looooow.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So you're doing a lot, but not getting a lot in return.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Cue resentment. Cue frustration. For you and your members.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The good news is that it doesn't have to be this way.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
