A piece I made out of heartbreak but also hope, faith in human goodness, resilience, and empathy will defeat the greed and evil that’s casting a shadow over all our lives—in Falasteen, in Lebanon, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, here in Miami..

It sounds crazy but I’ve often been intimidated by other forms of media like sculpture, collage, photography and the like out of fear of failure or not making something beautiful right off the bat.
It’s so important for me to remind myself to keep a child-like wonder and enjoy making art for the love of it, to welcome new experiences and new skills that can expand the understanding of what my subconscious wants to express.
So much of what I’ve read in Rick Rubin’s book, The Creative Act, exactly expands on the ideas of being available to inspiration, letting go of self-limiting beliefs and imposter syndrome, and how being open to experiences only continue to expand our artmaking language. So here goes to adding another layer to my pieces, I’m excited to incorporate this form to my works!
