Sometimes advocacy looks like this—
not a stage, not a spotlight… but real conversations happening in real time.

School counselors from across Arizona coming together, asking questions, and listening closely.
Moments like these create space for important dialogue with education leaders, giving counselors a seat at the table where decisions are being discussed and perspectives are shared.

This is the work.

Showing up. Staying informed. Asking questions that matter for our students and our profession.

When you become an AzSCA member, you’re stepping into:
✔️ A collective voice in statewide conversations
✔️ Direct connection to education leaders and decision-makers
✔️ A community committed to advocacy and growth

As the school year winds down, it’s a powerful time to stay connected to what’s next.

The next time you attend an AzSCA event or log into the member portal… there’s a good chance Cien Luke helped make that experience possible.

While AzSCA’s volunteer leadership drives so much of the work you see throughout the year, the person helping keep everything moving behind the scenes is Executive Director, Cien Luke.

Cien has been with AzSCA for the past 15 years, making her the institutional memory of our organization. Chair Lines come and go, but Cien carries the historical knowledge that informs many of the important discussions and decisions we make as an organization.

Whenever AzSCA embarks on a new project or faces a major policy decision, Cien researches all sides of the issue so leadership understands the pros and cons before moving forward.

Every day, she manages the day-to-day operations of the organization — from finances and membership recruitment to database management, media requests, student research proposals, and much more.

Because of Cien’s support, AzSCA’s Board leadership is able to focus on the bigger picture: advocating for school counselors and supporting students across Arizona.

We are incredibly grateful for her work and hope you are, too 💙
