I walked through hell for 15 years, but Jesus did not leave me there.
He brought me out with my children, my testimony, and my heart still able to love.
I do not have to prove who I am to people committed to remembering who I was.
My kids will know me by my love.
My wife will know me by my covenant.
My God already knows my name.
name.

Faith over fear.
Trust over pain.
I do not have to be driven by what hurt me.
I can be led by the One who heals me.
Pain tried to make me bitter.
Fear tried to make me run.
The past tried to tell me I was done.
But Jesus told me I was not done.
I choose faith.
I choose trust.
I choose surrender.
I am not led by my wounds anymore.
I am led by my God who knows my name.

It’s been a few days since I’ve posted on Jesus Rags, but the Lord has had me busy living in answered prayer.
On Friday, I married my best friend and sacred rib.
On Saturday, we made sure all of our kids were seen, loved, and poured into before taking them to their other parents early so we could get ready to leave.
Sunday was a full day of travel to Seattle, and now I’m on an Alaskan cruise with my wife on our honeymoon.
The sunset from the ship was so beautiful, and this morning’s sunrise is looking like it’s going to be just as spectacular.
My cup is full.
The Lord has been so, so good to me.
He has brought me through fire, through surrender, through loss, through healing, and into a life I once could not see for myself.
I do not take it for granted.
Jesus Rags is still here.
Still built on faith.
Still built on surrender.
Still built on recovery, obedience, and real transformation.
I’ve just been busy living in the blessings of God.
“He restoreth my soul.”
Psalm 23:3

While I was in my morning meditation and prayer, the Lord gave me this scripture:
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
1 Peter 5:7 NLT
That sounds simple until life starts hitting hard.
I know what it’s like to carry too much.
To keep things in my own head.
To try to hold stress, fear, pressure, and pain like it’s my job to manage all of it.
It’s not.
God never asked me to carry what I was supposed to surrender.
Things started changing when I stopped trying to hold everything together on my own and started laying it at His feet.
Not part of it.
All of it.
That’s where peace starts.
That’s where healing starts.
That’s where surrender gets real.

Last night was powerful.
I went to support my friend Rowdy at Teen Challenge, and the Holy Spirit was all over that place.
Paul and his wife led amazing worship, Rowdy brought a powerful message, and the Lord reminded me again that Jesus Rags is not just clothing.
It’s obedience.
It’s surrender.
It’s the message going where God wants it to go.

Last night I went to support a close friend of God, Rowdy, at Teen Challenge, and man… the message hit hard.
You could feel the Holy Spirit all over that place.
Paul and his wife led amazing worship, and while Rowdy was preaching, I could see the spirit of fire across the altar and three giant angels standing there.
I knew God was moving.
In the middle of all that, the Lord told me to give away four shirts.
So I did.
And every one of them ended up in the hands of people doing powerful work for the Lord.
That right there reminded me again that Jesus Rags is not just clothing to me.
It’s obedience.
It’s surrender.
It’s the message going exactly where God wants it to go.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”
Philippians 4:6 NLT
I know what it’s like to carry too much.
To sit in my own head.
To try to figure everything out on my own.
To hold stress, fear, pain, and pressure like somehow I was built to carry it.
I wasn’t.
Things started changing when I stopped trying to control everything and started bringing everything to God.
Not some things.
Everything.
That’s where surrender gets real.
That’s where healing starts.
That’s where recovery starts.
