I know what you’re thinking…

“What’s special about this picture”? And the true answer? Nothing, really.

This is my modest, needs some updates, perfectly average kitchen as it is most days. With the toaster on the counter from making breakfast for my family, a vase from Valentine’s Day flowers that still needs to be put away, coffee pods by the sink from my morning brew of joy (unfortunately still decaf for now 😬), and the giant water jug that I am never without as I chase a busy one year old around the house all day.

So… why take a “nothing special” picture? Because this is what my kitchen looked like the other day as I was dancing with my son and I couldn’t help but have such overwhelming joy flood my heart. As the Alexa played the lyrics to Diamond Rio’s “Beautiful Mess” and I sang along with my son in my arms “what a beautiful mess, what a beautiful mess I’m in, spending all my time with you, there’s nothing else I’d rather do” I realized that in the noise of all the constant thoughts of needing to do more and be more I forgot that right now I am living in the midst of everything I prayed and waited so long for.

While I love helping others tell and share their stories, I forgot that these so incredibly special ordinary moments are also a chapter in mine and deserve to be remembered.

So, my friends, I hope today you can take a look at your kitchen that may or may not look something like mine, and remember that your story is happening NOW , and it matters ❤️

This morning as I sat and had my morning cup of coffee and devotional time I felt a rush of gratitude. Sure we all have struggles and things that we want, but do you ever stop and let yourself be amazed at all that you already have?

There are so many blessings that surround us each day and I’m a firm believer that choosing to view life through a lense of gratitude allows for a more abundant life than we could imagine, not by having more but by simply recognizing that what we have is enough.

So today, as we are all rushing around preparing for Thanksgiving celebrations tomorrow (and maybe even thinking ahead already to Black Friday shopping), I would love to challenge you to find a moment or two to pause and let yourself bask in gratefulness for the blessings in your life. I promise you won’t regret it 😉
