Do you know how much pressure is put on new momma’s to “perform” and nurse their baby on point as soon as baby arrives??

Here was my intro to nursing 4 years ago:
Nurse: “so, do you plan to nurse or bottle feed?”

K: “well, I’d like him to be comfortable with both since I’ll have to return to work soon (problem #1) and I’d like for Richie Bell and whoever else that would like to have that special time experience feeding him too with the bottle ( #2).

Nurse: “okay then: you’ve got 15 minutes for each and whatever he doesn’t get, we will tube feed the rest.” 🤯😳🥺😔

💔ultimately, he went to formula bc I didn’t have a supply built up (freezer was left open and ruined my supply), and I was working such long hours, it was either feed myself or pump, which obviously didn’t have nutrients since I didn’t eat well if at all.

Baby #2: post partum set in, feelings of resentment and failure were already present when he arrived, and I was completely detached from the nursing idea. “Fed is best” was really the motto I was living by at this point. Deep down, I really did want to try to nurse. I just felt like an absolute failure as a mom.

Fast forward to 2 years of focusing on gut health and balancing my blood sugars (check out the connection between insulin and milk supply), not only was this my healthiest and easiest pregnancy, delivery, and post partum experience, my milk supply has been the best and most nutritious it’s ever been 🙏🏼🙌🏼

I’m so thankful that my sweet friend Casey Ellison Cox spent time FaceTiming me too help me have a great nursing experience, my supplements that have boosted my milk supply, my supplement that helps me balance my mood to have patience with the process, my sweet babe that is learning the process with me, and my amazing husband that has been so supportive in me trying to see this journey through 🤟🏼🙏🏼🙌🏼.

❤️Not only did this little guy who went from 6 lbs 14 oz to 7 lbs 11 oz in one week 🙏🏼🙌🏼, our supply has exponentially grown! 🙌🏼
