Murk is a powerful and passionate evangelist with a unique calling and deep love for God, people, and performance art. Born and raised in Peoria, IL, she discovered her love for performing at a very young age and began attending performing arts schools where she developed her musical and theatrical craft. Murk’s childhood was marked by heavy involvement in church and a strong spiritual upbringing,
but during her teenage years she found herself being lured away by temptations of the secular lifestyle. It was during those latter teenage/early adult years that she relocated to Tampa, Fl and discovered her love for hip-hop and its counter parts; drinking, smoking, and lots of partying. At the age of 21, Murk found herself in search of something to fill the voids in her life which lead her to make the decision to re-dedicate her life to Christ. After seeing a powerful vision of herself performing in an arena full of worshiping young people, she made the decision to dedicate herself to using her gifts and talents to serve and introduce others to the God that changed her life. Murk’s professional music career began after entering the Battle of the Praises music competition in Miami, Fl in 2012. After performing for award winning Christian artists, Vicki Winans, Kierra Kiki Sheard, Beckah Shae, and Mr. This exposure landed her the attention of Grammy nominated recording artist, minister, & CEO Mr. Del, who in 2013, offered her a recording contract on his label Dedicated Music Group. From there, she stepped out in faith, quit her job as an insurance agent, and packed up to move to Memphis, TN to pursue her hip-hop music career and kingdom purpose. Since signing to DMG, Murk has released five projects, including her debut album Murk In Season (2013), mixtape Still Murkin’ (2015), women’s empowerment focused EP, P31 (2015), sophomore album Kingdom Kulture (2017), and her latest masterpiece 31 Gang (2020) Her hit song ‘P31’, which provides a hip-hop spin on the Proverbs 31 woman, landed her with a music video placement on the music show Next, which airs on Magic Johnson’s television network Aspire. Murk is now affectionately known by fans as Ms. P31, as she uses her gifts of rapping, acting, writing, and speaking to uplift and empower women through her P31 movement. She is also an ordained minister and the author of The P31 Devotional which simply, yet profoundly encourages women of all ages to embrace their natural beauty, while also empowering them to walk in their purpose as queens in God’s Kingdom. Murk’s latest endeavors include serving as a radio personality on Revolt Radio, a kingdom hip-hop show currently airing in Atlanta, Nashville, and Memphis, and breaking into the podcast industry as the co-host of two weekly podcasts. On The Soul Ties Podcast Murk teams up with love & life coach Del Lawrence TMo With The Dance Moves, and Lee Lee P. Love as they help others to detox from toxic relationships. The P31 Podcast, for all queens - single, married, and in between, features her sister/friend Lee Lee P. Love as they tackle the most important topics of womanhood. Murk is most excited about her recent leap into the beauty industry with the launch of her new natural hair care line P31 Queen Essentials, with which she seeks to fulfill her desire of catering to the total woman. Merging her passion for ministry and performance arts, Murk travels around the world spreading God's message of love and salvation to win the lost, heal the hurting, and inspire the masses.
