NLP Rapport: A Difference That Makes a Difference

Rapport in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) refers to the process of establishing a connection and mutual understanding between two or more people. The goal of rapport is to create a comfortable and trusting environment that allows for effective communication and collaboration.

Rapport in NLP is seen as a crucial step in achieving one's desired outcome in a given situation. It is important because it helps build trust and reduces resistance, making it easier for the person you are communicating with to understand and accept your ideas or proposals.

Rapport, as thought of in NLP, is different from the general understanding of rapport as simply being friendly or likable. NLP views rapport as a specific set of skills and techniques that can be learned and applied to create a deeper level of connection and understanding.

To get into and maintain rapport, NLP practitioners use various techniques, including matching and mirroring, active listening, and adjusting their communication style to match the person they are communicating with. These techniques involve paying close attention to the other person's nonverbal cues, such as body language, tone of voice, and pace of speech, and adapting one's own behavior to align with theirs.

Once rapport has been established, it can be used to influence and persuade the other person, by tapping into their unconscious desires and motivations. For example, in a sales situation, rapport can be used to build trust and credibility, making it easier to close the sale. In therapy or coaching, rapport can be used to help the client feel comfortable and open up, allowing for deeper insights and progress.

According to research and various studies in the field of communication, it is estimated that the breakdown of communication into words, tonality, and physiology is roughly as follows:

Words: 7%
Tonality: 38%
Physiology: 55%

This means that the majority of our communication is nonverbal, and includes things like body language, gestures, facial expressions, and eye contact. These nonverbal cues provide important context and meaning to the words we use, and can have a significant impact on how our message is perceived and interpreted by others.

In conclusion, rapport in NLP is a crucial aspect of effective communication and is seen as a set of specific skills and techniques that can be learned and applied. By paying attention to both verbal and nonverbal cues and adapting one's behavior to align with the other person, rapport can be established, maintained, and used to achieve desired outcomes.

NLP Parts Integration

Have you ever heard someone say — or maybe you’ve said it yourself — “Part of me (believes wants to, or values ________ (one thing)) and part of me (believes, wants to, or values) ________ (something else , the opposite of the first thing)”?

That can be a problem, can’t it? Because it divides the person’s focus and energy (“where attention goes, energy flows”) making it difficult to make progress toward a goal.

That’s what NLP Parts Integration solves.

Parts Integration is a technique used in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to address internal conflicts and contradictions, such as in an individual's beliefs, motivations, values, or behaviors.

It is used to help individuals identify and integrate conflicting parts of their personality, so that they can make more congruent decisions and take more effective actions.

It can also be used as one way of helping someone remove secondary gains (unconscious, hidden agendas / reasons that are holding the person back from getting the positive outcome that they say they want to achieve).

The technique involves identifying and communicating with the different parts of an individual's personality that are in conflict, and helping the person to reconcile them.

This is typically done by asking specific questions (taught in NLP Practitioner Certification classes) to help the client integrate the parts, and giving the client specific hypnotic suggestions near the end of the process, and other techniques, to help them complete the integration, at the level of the Unconscious Mind.

Parts Integration is a very powerful technology that can help clients achieve profound, positive, permanent life change. As such, it should only be done by a well-trained, experienced, and highly qualified, Certified NLP Practitioner.

At the NLP Practitioner skill level, Parts Integration is taught and done formally, using a script. At the Master NLP Practitioner skill level, it can be done informally, conversationally.

Parts Integration can be used to address a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, phobias, relationship problems, and more. By bringing unconscious conflicts to conscious awareness, individuals can gain a deeper understanding of their motivations and behaviors, and develop new ways of thinking and acting that are more in line with their values and goals.

The possibilities of its use are vast, and can include improving personal relationships, increasing self-confidence, reducing stress and anxiety, and enhancing personal growth and development.

Overall, Parts Integration can be a powerful tool for individuals seeking to understand and resolve internal conflicts, and to achieve greater self-awareness and personal growth.

NLP Eye Patterns

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Eye Patterns are a key element of NLP, a field of study that explores the relationship between language, thought, and behavior.

These patterns are based on the idea that the way a person's eyes move can reveal information about their internal state, including their thoughts, emotions, and memories.

The discovery of NLP Eye Patterns is attributed to the founders of NLP, Richard Bandler and John Grinder, who observed that people's eye movements changed when they were in different mental states. They developed a system for interpreting these eye movements, which they called "eye accessing cues."

NLP Eye Patterns are used to help practitioners understand the internal states of their clients and to better communicate with them. They can also be used to help clients gain insight into their own thoughts and emotions, as well as to improve communication and influence in personal and professional settings.

The possibilities of NLP Eye Patterns are vast, as they can be applied in a wide range of fields, including therapy, coaching, sales, marketing, and education. They can also be used to improve communication and influence in personal and professional settings.

Some people claim that NLP Eye Patterns can be used to detect deception, however, this claim is controversial and not supported by scientific research.

Often, people who are not well trained in NLP misinterpret eye patterns or even fail to detect them adequately. Take my NLP Practitioner course to learn how to accurately detect and apply NLP Eye Patterns.
