Established in 2001, the Panther Pep Band is composed of over 20 talented, enthusiastic Florida Tech students who support the Panthers at both men’s and women’s home basketball games, special events, including the Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally, and various other functions. They also periodically travel to away games and perform in community parades and events, including the Meg O'Malley's St. Pa
trick's Day Parade and the ceremony for the Last Naval Battle of the America Revolution. Along with the Panther Cheerleading Team and the University’s mascot, Pete the Panther, they help compose Florida Tech’s Spirit Team. Governed by a constitution, the Pep Band is an organization run entirely by students. Each year, they nominate and elect five officers. The ensemble entertains from start to finish, earning the reputation as one of the best Pep Bands in the Sunshine State Conference. When the Panther basketball teams take to the hardwood floor at the Clemente Center, the Pep Band provides them with a home court advantage that opposing teams immediately recognize. Panther fans feed off the band’s energy, creating an exciting game environment for all. In 2008, the Office of Student Life named the Pep Band its Rising Star Student Organization of the Year. Just 12 months later, they received the office’s Organization of the Year honor. Current and former instrumentalists, who presently attend Florida Tech, are encouraged to sign-up.
