A Touching Moment as a Chaplain
I recently had a powerful experience at work as a chaplain that really touched my heart. I’ve been talking with a gentleman who’s been going through a tough time with his mother’s health and his own challenges with addiction. During our latest conversation, he shared that both he and his mother have been doing better. As I was walking away, he called out to me, saying, "Thank you for checking in on me. I really appreciate it."
Those words resonated deeply with me. I understand how difficult the journey through addiction can be. Life throws so many challenges our way, often pulling us back into habits and behaviors we desperately want to leave behind. Yet, it’s in moments like these that I’m reminded of why I do what I do. As chaplains, we seek to offer freedom and hope, not just for those we serve, but also for the loved ones who care so deeply about them.
