As humans, we often equate price with value. If it's expensive, it must be worth that much, right?

However, what about the subscription you pay for but never use anymore? You are paying a price, but not receiving any value. When I look at a client's budget with them, one of the lenses we use is, "Is this purchase worth it to you?" Different clients have different answers because we're different people with different values. And that's one of the coolest parts of my job- learning what is important to each client.

Is there a line item in your budget that provides a lot of value to you? Share it in the comments!

I'm taking a course called Applied Behavioral Finance, and it's all about how our emotions, personalities, and past experiences shape our financial behaviors and decisions. While many people- financial professionals included- think that personal finance is primarily a math-based field, that's only the tip of the iceberg. The root of most of our personal finance decisions have nothing to do with dollars and cents.

What emotions were you feeling the last time you made an important financial decision? Comment below!

I’ve been working on my growth mindset, and I chose the following as my affirmation for the last week. In a meeting today, I heard my client describe this exact sensation in slightly different words. It highlighted to me that we all sometimes need reminders that we CAN make the changes we desire, and that we CAN become the person we want to become. What changes are you making in your life? Everyone experiences money challenges at some point- often at many points- during their lives. And those money challenges can change:
- College students are often broke.
- Recent graduates often have burdensome student loans.
- Dual-income couples often want to be smart with where they put their savings.
- New parents are sleep-deprived and spend money on conveniences. And childcare. Lots and lots of childcare.
- Parents of high schoolers often worry about college costs.
- And once you've run the gamut of worries above, you finally have time to worry about retirement.

It's no wonder that money is a leading cause of stress and divorce in the US. If you want to talk about your money challenges but don't know where to turn, send me a PM and I'll share some resources that help you address your current money challenge.
