The ACA works well for many Americans — but it may not be the best fit for everyone.
If you’re a healthy, high-income entrepreneur with a family to protect (without overspending), it’s worth understanding what you’re actually paying for in an ACA marketplace plan.
Every ACA plan must include the 10 Essential Health Benefits, and for many people, that’s a good thing.
But for others, three of those required benefits may not be necessary:
Maternity care
Mental health services
Substance-abuse treatment
These benefits are valuable, but if you don’t need them, they can increase your monthly premium.
