We rescue dogs from an area dubbed the Corridor of Cruelty in Houston Texas as well as other areas when we are able to assist. We operate a rescue and rehabilitation Magnolia, Texas where the dogs go straight from the streets to recover and find homes.

Sometimes things do not go as smoothly as we would hope.
As a rescue that takes in dogs with complex issues, we are used to medical cases and managing their care.
Nimbus is one of those cases. When she was rescued, it was noted that she had several masses on her. During her recent spay surgery, we also had the masses removed - one on her tail and one on her shoulder. The one on her shoulder was deep, and it was a complex surgery, requiring stitches and staples.
Nimbus is loving, friendly girl who does not understand how to stay still, even though she was on strict crate rest. Unfortunately, the wound would not stay closed. Our wonderful vet techs restapled the wound, our vet dressed it multiple times, yet it kept opening. We have monitored it closely, as we know open wounds in that area can quickly turn.
Unfortunately, that is what happened. We are currently at Vergi 24/7 awaiting treatment. She will need to undergo anesthesia, wound debridement and another surgical repair to the area.
