Are prayer books beneficial? In a way, they could help a person get some good ideas of what they want to say to God. But there is a warning? Matt 6:7 reads "When praying, do not say the same things over and over again as the people of the nations do, for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words. 8 So do not be like them". You can think of it this way. If you are cooking a meal for your best friend on a daily basis. Would you cook them the same meal over and over! Of course not! God gave us many varieties of food and seasonings on this planet. He loves variety! Same when we talk to God. We want to express ourselves in a humble manner, and open our hearts. Yes, he knows what's going on in our lifes. It's different when you express it in your own words to him. From the heart!
