His passion for education was refined by his teaching experiences in both public and private schools in Barbados and the United States of America, specifically Kentucky and Georgia. In these teaching arenas, he was afforded the opportunities to immerse himself in student diversity and his student-centered approach to learning enabled him to better understand a full range of students’ learning styles, learning differences, and challenges. As a result of his approach to holistic student development and his dedication to secondary education, Dr. Francis was nominated twice for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and is the recipient of several coveted awards for his focus on student engagement, learning, and leadership.
