The original idea was toss back and forth by Ben and Matthew back in 2013. Both are members of Alliance of the Overseas (Matt also being the lead guitarist for Omaha alternative metal band The Impulsive), but AOTO had been on an indefinite hiatus and Ben and Matt wanted to keep pursing heavy music. The idea was forgotten for a couple of years since AOTO did eventually end up getting back together
