Lima Young Professionals

Last Wednesday, the Lima Young Professionals visited the Allen County Museum and Historical Society for our monthly Professional Development event!

During our visit, we learned more about the important work the museum is doing in our community, heard about their upcoming fundraiser, and learned about a new exhibit that will be opening soon. We also participated in an interactive scavenger hunt that encouraged us to explore the museum, engage with its exhibits, and discover more about Allen County's rich history.

Thank you to the museum staff for hosting us and sharing their knowledge and passion for preserving our local heritage. We appreciate the opportunity to learn more about this valuable community resource!

🌟 Board Member Spotlight: Nathan Vandenbroek 🌟

For our next Board Member Spotlight, we are featuring Nathan Vandenbroek, who serves on the Events Committee for Lima Young Professionals.

Nathan is a Professor at University of Northwestern Ohio, where he helps educate and prepare the next generation of professionals.

Nathan joined Lima Young Professionals because he believes in investing in the Lima community. He wanted to connect with others who are passionate about making a positive impact, supporting local initiatives, and helping our region continue to grow and thrive.

🐑 Fun Fact: Nathan’s family has a small farm where they raise sheep, chickens, ducks, and even a donkey named Dominic!

We've been really blessed to have Julie Klingler as a our Director of Programs & Partnerships here at the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce since May 31, 2022! Today is her last day with us. We wish her all the best as she begins serving on staff at Cory-Rawson Local Schools this fall! Thank you, Julie! You will be missed.

We had a great turnout for Morning Coffee Connections on Wednesday with even better conversation. It was also the first time many of us had the chance to try Reservation Alley - Shawnee and it did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, great drinks, and a great place to connect. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a wonderful morning of networking and conversation.

Another great Professional Development event is in the books for Lima Young Professionals.

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to visit the beautiful Shawnee Country Club for an afternoon of networking, learning, and leadership insight.

A special thank you to Gail Steffan for sharing her professional journey and valuable real world advice on workplace success, leadership, optimism, and finding what works best for you professionally. Gail’s experience spans an impressive career, including serving as founder and president of Northview Partners, managing the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority which includes Navy Pier, consulting on feasibility studies for professional sports venues, and now owning Pizza Arcadia in Bluffton.

We also appreciated Gail introducing us to Tara Heller, the new General Manager of Shawnee Country Club, before wrapping up the afternoon with a tour of the facility.

Thank you to the club for hosting us and providing a delicious lunch. We appreciate everyone who attended and helped make the event a success.
