🦆 Welcome! 🦆
I created this page to have a place to share my journey of keeping ducks, post duck content without flooding my personal page, and have a place to share knowledge with fellow duck owners!

When Suzy died (last year) I had kept her leg band. So… when a snake took Daffy’s life earlier this week- of course I kept his band, too. Not to re-use, of course. I kept them much for the same reason someone might keep and cherish the collar from a dog or cat. Earlier, when I spotted Daffy’s drake feather on the table, I thought to myself “I should make something from this feather since it’s the first one I ever found and now he’s not here so I’ll never get the chance to find any more of them” - and I decided to click it into his leg band, along with one of his pretty iridescent wing feathers. Then I remembered that I still had some feathers from Suzy in my collection so I grabbed one of her wing feathers and one that I thought had an interesting pattern and clicked them into her leg band as well. It’s sad that they are no longer on this earth but I feel like this little idea had earlier is a simple, yet beautiful, way to honor them.

Found toad eggs in the (future) pond when I was draining the rain water. Not letting them go to waste, though… Collected them to use for a homeschool science project 👏 📕 🐸

So the rain has forced me to pause work on the duck pond…. And the toads are taking FULL advantage 😂 🐸

Miss Daisy laid another perfect egg! 🎉 🥚 things are really looking up for her.

Daisy has had a rough couple of months — between having an injured leg/hip and then ending up with egg laying issues 😫 but luckily things seem to be looking up! She’s still walking funny but she’s healed up enough to be back in the run with the other ducks during the day and while her egg production has dropped recently, her last couple of eggs were normal! So hopefully she will continue to improve and things can go back to normal (or as close to normal as possible) for her!
