Today, we are highlighting one of the many faces that make Davidson Medical Ministries special - Board Member Lillian Koontz! 🌟
Lillian has served on the Davidson Medical Ministries’ Board of Directors since 2016 while also serving as the Health Director for the Davidson County Health Department. Through her leadership and unique perspective, she has strengthened the partnership between the Health Department and DMM, enabling both organizations to better identify community needs, connect individuals with resources, and collaborate with community partners to improve health and well-being throughout Davidson County. 🤝❤️
Serving a county of more than 170,000 residents, Lillian believes no single organization can meet every need alone. She values DMM’s commitment to serving the community with fairness, compassion, and equity while filling critical gaps and helping individuals and families overcome barriers to healthcare and essential resources.
One of Lillian’s favorite experiences with DMM was participating in the “Getting Ahead” program through DC Connect, where she helped prepare and serve a meal, connect with participants, and share information about available resources. She worked alongside community partners to support individuals building better futures.
Lillian credits Executive Director Janise Hurley and the DMM team for their ability to recognize community needs, pursue new opportunities, and respond quickly with innovative solutions. She looks forward to continuing to support DMM’s mission and helping strengthen its impact across Davidson County. ❤️ 🤝

DC Connect is proud to work with over 60 dedicated local partners to serve those in our community who need it most. Our goal is to provide a gateway to resources for those who are post-incarcerated, struggling with substance use, or experiencing homelessness.
Today we want to highlight our partnership with Everybody Has a Story Ministry. Founded by Marianna Frank and her husband, Thomas, as a ministry focused on serving and helping people experiencing homelessness. They believe every person has a story and matters and deserves to be treated with kindness and compassion no matter their situation. It started out as a “pocketbook ministry” where donated purses were filled with personal hygiene items and given to women experiencing homelessness. The need grew to where the ministry expanded to include Bags Of Hope for men that are also filled with hygiene supplies and a wider outreach to serve more people in the community. They spend time listening to individuals, building relationships, and showing kindness and respect. Also, they partner with other local organizations such as the Salvation Army of Davidson County to reach more people in need. 📙❤️
They do outreach events throughout the year as well.
•A Day Of Care: where they provide free shoes, haircuts, showers, laundry services, food, medical, and other community resources.
•Christmas Feast for the Homeless: Hosted each year, offering an opportunity to experience the true meaning of Christmas. Providing meals to over 225 people, along with free warm weather supplies such as coats, gloves, toboggans, sleeping bags, blankets, food bags, hygiene bags, and many other items.
•They also go out and do outreach within the Homelessness Community to assist with any needs they may have, such as mental health, medical, legal documents, housing, etc.
They travel all over NC speaking to groups about the severe homeless and mental health crisis that exists in our country today. North Carolina State Senator Ted Budd recognized them in Washington, DC, for all their outstanding work with homeless outreach. Some of the most important clients they consider are homeless veterans. A good picture is shown here of a homeless combat war veteran along with his dog, with whom they're very close.
We are proud to stand alongside a great agency like Everybody Has A Story Ministry, Inc. Thank you for everything you do for the DC community! ❤️❤️
