With nearly 300 students in grades 6-12 band, we financially support our students by paying for clinicians, transportation, equipment, and various other thing throughout the year. Additionally, the Band Boosters offer college scholarships to graduating students. Contributions from individuals throughout the community and beyond, result in the largest source of outside financial support for our band program.

Freshman Parents… this week is for YOU! Welcome to the group that is Band Parents! It’s a fun and rewarding place to be!!

Keep your eyes peeled right here because all week long we’ll be sharing information you’ll definitely want to know (and maybe a few things you never knew you needed to know šŸ˜‰) about Marching Band! Just tips from those of us who have been there! Read the comments as I am sure our parents would love to share their experiences!

Today’s topic: HYDRATION! šŸ’§ā˜€ļø

One of the best things your student can do before band camp starts is begin hydrating now and getting acclimated to the Texas heat. Please don’t wait until the day before camp begins. Drinking plenty of water every day and spending some time outdoors will help their bodies adjust and make those first few days much easier.

You’ll also want to start thinking about a one-gallon water jug. Amazon has several great options that keep water cold all day, and they’re usually very reasonably priced. While a specific brand is not required, every student will need to bring one gallon of water to rehearsals and football games. Mr Huff will cover all the details at the parent meeting, but we wanted to give you a head start!

I’ve included a picture and description of one option below. I even looked to see if they were on sale… no such luck! šŸ˜‚

Stay tuned tomorrow for another Freshman Parent Tip!
