Our Back to the Basics of Base Building Summer continues to go strong! Recently, members connected with their neighbors in McMinn County, Anderson County, and Rutherford County through one-on-one conversations on front porches and in living rooms.
Over the next couple of weeks, members in Montgomery County, Rutherford County, Knox County, Sumner County, and Putnam County will be knocking on doors to meet new people, listen to their concerns, and invite them into the work. Each chapter will continue this base building work up to our Annual Meeting in October.

Knox County: Appreciation to all those who came to Monday's action! Come to Thursday's Board meeting if you are able. This is civic engagement. Contact information for members of the Knox County School Board can be found at: https://help.knoxschools.org/board-policy/board-members
Yesterday, we stood in solidarity with 14 community partners, speaking in support of the freedom to read and questioning the current book review processes under the Age Appropriate Materials Act. We will continue to elevate our voices advocating for transparency and access. Your voice is powerful and deserves to be heard. Contact the members of KCS Board of Education before they vote this Thursday!

If you missed SOCM Giving Day on Monday, no problem! There's still time to help us reach our $5,400 goal in celebration of our 54th anniversary.
SOCM is funded by foundation grants and individual donations from people like you. Give today to support leadership training, grassroots organizing, and a future Tennessee where all people are treated with dignity, where our environment is preserved and protected, and where corporations and public officials are held accountable to the needs of the people. Remember, extraordinary change is rooted in the actions of ordinary people.
