My Personal Best Red Grouper: 23 lbs (Gutted)! 🚨🐟

This fish put up an absolute battle! But here's the crazy part...

It actually ate CJ's bait first and snapped his swivel clean in half. 😳 We figured the fish was gone for good.

Less than 2 minutes later, I dropped my bait down and my rod doubled over. After an incredible fight, I finally got this GIANT red grouper to the surface.

Then I looked closer... and couldn't believe it. Sticking out of the other side of its mouth was CJ's hook, leader, and the other half of the broken swivel. 🤯

Talk about a second chance! Safe to say this 23-pounder wasn't getting away twice. 🎣🔥

We found a new ledge and it didn’t take long for it to produce. Two quality grouper, two incredible fights, and a reminder of why finding new spots is always worth the effort.

Once the fish is hooked, it’s all about teamwork — clearing lines, getting the deck organized, and setting up for the right gaff shot.

Cj did an awesome job fighting this fish, keeping steady pressure, and controlling the tuna without letting it go into a chaotic run boatside. Those small adjustments make all the difference when you’re bringing a powerful fish like this to the boat.

Now the hard part is over… sushi night is coming!
