Anyone planning a trip to the Keys this weekend should plan for a few events.
Motorist should be aware of two events this weekend on U.S. 1
• Seven Mile Bridge Run returns on Saturday, April 17
The Seven Mile Bridge Run returns this month after a hiatus due to COVID-19.
Motorists and residents need to plan accordingly and help spread the word as the bridge will be shut down in both directions for three hours.
Plan to be across the bridge by 6 a.m. to avoid being stuck on one side or the other.
Traffic flow will resume at approximately 9 a.m.
Please plan any travel accordingly and please be patient. Expect delays.
Runners will start from the west side of the bridge and run toward east side of the bridge this year.
There will be no spectators allowed.
For more information go to www.7mbrun.com
• Bike to the Beach event for autism awareness also scheduled for Saturday, April 17
Approximately 50 bicyclists will depart Miami at 5 a.m. and finish at the Islander Resort in Islamorada.
Organizers expect the bicyclists will be spread out by the time they reach the 18-Mile Stretch and the Keys.
They are not expected to cause traffic congestion.
Planners also expect the bicyclists to be in the Keys between noon and 4 p.m.
