Do you love ๐ŸŸ fries!

You can eat fries if you have diabetes.

But portion matter especially If you are eating fries with another carb like a wrap or a burger with buns.

Eating a large fry with a wrap may spike blood sugars. Instead of โ€œcarb stackingโ€ try limiting the fries for a more balanced carb intake to keep blood sugars more steady!

And make sure your meal has enough protein, fat and fiber.

Tips for balanced meals.
1๏ธโƒฃ Watch the carbs. Cut down on portions of the fries. Share the fries or eat only a small amount.
2๏ธโƒฃ Include protein. I suggest 20-30 grams
3๏ธโƒฃ Load up on the non-starchy veggies. I suggest 2+ cups

Oatmeal can be great way to start your day but it depends on how you prepare it. When eaten alone, oatmeal can spike blood sugar. And may not be filling. โ €

โฃOatmeal does have fiber which is great for your health but the amount of fiber in this case is not enough to keep the blood sugars from spiking for most people. โ €

Oatmeal reunited with friends such as protein, fat, and fiber have a very different impact on bloods sugars. So be sure to include some added protein, fat and/or fiber with your oatmeal for more balanced blood sugars and a more filling breakfast.

Low Carb Oatmeal Reunited with Friends Recipe makes 1 cup oatmeal (modify portions based on carb tolerance): โ €
- 1/3 cup Old -Fashioned Organic Oats
- 1 cup almond milk, coconut milk, or water โ €
- 1 tablespoon flax and 1 tablespoon h**p seeds โ €
Topping (optional): cinnamon, shredded coconut and 6-7 berriesโ €

All I did was cut a cucumber in half, core out the center and filled it with cooked lump crab meat that I mixed with a little bit of fresh lemon juice and whipped cream cheese, and some avocado pieces. I then sliced it into 1-2 inch slices and topped with black sesame seeds, toasted sesame seeds, and crumbled up pieces of nori! We ate it up with some spicy mayo that I made which is just 2TBS mayo to 3 TBS of sriracha sauceโ€”add less or more sriracha sauce to make it hot or more mild! From annies_keto

๐Ÿ“„ A recent study demonstrates that a low-fat, plant-based diet can totally transform your health for the better in as little as 16 weeks. The study, which included 244 overweight adults, tested to find out whether a diet consisting of 75% carbohydrate, 15% protein, and 10% fat in the form of vegetables, whole grains, beans, and fruits, with no oil or animal products, would lead to weight loss and increased insulin sensitivity.

๐Ÿ Half of the study participants were randomly assigned to the low-fat, vegan diet, and the other half of the study participants kept their usual dietary pattern. After 16 weeks, individuals in the low-fat vegan group had a mean body weight decrease of over 14 pounds, decreased their fasting insulin levels to 21.6 pmol/L (the control group had a fasting insulin of 23.6 pmol/L), and increased their insulin sensitivity.

๐Ÿง How does a high-carbohydrate, low-fat, plant-based diet help people lose weight and increase their insulin sensitivity? The researchers in this study also measured the hepatocellular intramyocellular lipid levels (AKA the amount of liver fat and fat droplets inside muscle cells) of the study participants in addition to their metabolic rate after eating a test meal. What they found helped to shed some light on why the diet was so effective.

The participants consuming the high-carbohydrate diet had significantly reduced the amount of fat in their liver and in their muscle cells, and increased their after-meal metabolic rate.

This suggests that a high-carbohydrate, vegan diet leads to weight loss and increased insulin sensitivity by increasing glucose clearance and metabolic rate.
