The longer I lead and coach others, the more convinced I become that culture isn't built in the big moments. It's built in the small decisions we make every single day.

I've caught myself thinking, "I'll deal with that later," or "It's probably not a big enough issue to bring up." More often than not, those are the very moments that deserve my attention.

Because what I choose to ignore doesn't stay isolated. It communicates. It tells people what's acceptable, what matters, and what can be overlooked. And over time, those quiet messages become part of the culture, whether I intended them to or not.

I've learned that leadership isn't just about what I say from the front of the room. It's about what I consistently reinforce through my actions, my responses, and even my silence.

That's a humbling thought, but also an empowering one. It reminds me that every conversation, every decision, and every act of consistency is an opportunity to build the kind of culture I actually want to lead.

The strongest leaders don't leave their growth to chance. They make learning, reflection, and development a priority because they know their team can only grow as far as they do.

What is one way you're investing in your own leadership this month?

Leadership is full of advice, opinions, and assumptions. Some of it helps us grow, but some of it quietly holds us back.

The truth is that leadership isn't about having all the answers, being the loudest voice, or waiting until you have the perfect title. It's about influence, growth, and the willingness to keep learning.

Which leadership myth do you think does the most damage to leaders today?

Motivation comes and goes for everyone. Alignment is what keeps people moving forward. When people understand the why behind their work, they stay engaged longer. It gives meaning to what they are doing.
