There are moments in life when a simple cup of coffee becomes so much more.

Today, we are excited to begin a new journey with the BAR Coffee Club—a place built on the belief that meaningful conversations can change lives. This isn’t just a coffee shop. It’s a safe space where people can gather, connect, ask honest questions, and find hope through community.

At Building a Refuge, we’ve always believed that healing begins when people know they’re not alone. The BAR Coffee Club gives us a place to live out that mission every day—a place where conversations matter, friendships are formed, and everyone has a seat at the table.

We’re also incredibly honored to partner with Dry Heat Coffee and Joe Shoemaker. Joe’s passion for sourcing and roasting exceptional, high-quality coffee is evident in every cup he creates. But what makes this partnership truly special is that Joe shares our heart for people. Together, we’re creating an experience where amazing coffee and authentic community come together to make a lasting impact.

Whether you stop by for your morning coffee, meet a friend, join one of our monthly men’s mental health gatherings, or simply need a place to breathe, the BAR Coffee Club is here for you. Because sometimes hope begins with a conversation.

As we continue to build and grow, our page will be your primary source for updates. We’ll be sharing our progress, announcing special events, introducing new offerings, and posting our upcoming public open hours as they become available.

Tomorrow morning, Austin G Leum and Brandon Leum will be guests on WTHR-TV, discussing the Rock N Ride for Hope 2026 - A Ride. A Rally. A Reason at 8:45am. Furthermore, we will be featured on 93.1 WIBC-FM at 11:30am, where Jerry Lopez will share our mission and stress the importance of addressing men's health awareness, men's mental health awareness, and su***de prevention. Our aim is to create a safe and supportive environment where men can come together without fear of judgment. We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday at the VFW Post 10003 Carmel.
