It’s been so long since Michelle and I first met that I can’t quite recall where it was—maybe at an American Business Women’s event—but what I do remember is how easily we connected.

From our coffee meetups and her thoughtful book recommendations to her encouraging words about life and business, Michelle has always been someone who pours into others with sincerity and grace.

One moment, in particular, stands out. I had called to invite her to speak for Uplifting My Sisters, a nonprofit I had just launched. She was excited, her voice full of warmth—until suddenly, there was silence.

I didn’t know it then, but she was facing a deeply challenging moment. I prayed for her and her family, not knowing what to say or how to move forward with something that now felt so small in comparison.

When we spoke again, I gently suggested postponing, but Michelle refused. She said, “The best time to encourage others is when you’re going through a tough time.” Her words stopped me in my tracks. In that moment, I saw the true depth of her strength and faith.
