I can do the behind the scenes work that is important to be done, but not important to be done by you. That way, you can have more time to grow your business in all of the ways that make your company unique. I started my work as a VA when my mother, a multi-media artist, wanted to start a business selling prints of her artwork. At first I just helped here and there when she had questions, but eventually I took over the business side of things as my full time job, moved the site to a WordPress website, and set about developing a marketing strategy. As I worked on the business, I learned that working behind the scenes was what I liked best. I found I was more than happy to not be the face of the company, but to do the grunt work of improving the website, editing and posting blog posts, setting up and running the social media accounts, maintaining the Etsy store and sending out newsletters. The more I worked on developing my mom’s business, the more I saw opportunities for me to the use the same techniques to help other people build their own businesses. Eventually I realized that I really enjoy doing the behind the scenes work of setting up businesses and helping them run smoothly, and I should start my own business doing just that!
