Houston Forensic Science Center
The Houston Forensic Science Center is an independent organization created by Houston Mayor Annise Parker to manage the forensic operations, including the Crime Scene Unit, that previously belonged to the Houston Police Department. Its mission is to receive, analyze and preserve physical and digital evidence while adhering to the highest standards of quality, objectivity and ethics.

HFSC's hosted its second annual Pal-entine's event for all staff, featuring yummy snacks from a 10-foot grazing table, treats, boba teas, and a photo booth! We hosted a Besties game where teams of two HFSC besties competed to see who knows who the best. Winners received a two-piece wooden heart handmade by Dr. Stout!

HFSC had a great time discussing the work we do and our important role in the criminal justice system with more than 200 students at the HISD High School for Law and Justice Early College's "Law Day!"

The City of Houston Mayor John Whitmire honored HFSC CEO and President Dr. Peter Stout and HFSC COO Dr. Amy Castillo for their respective 10 years of service to HFSC by proclaiming Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025 as Dr. Peter Stout Day and Dr. Amy Castillo Day! Council Member Amy Peck sponsored the proclamations and HFSC Board of Directors Chair Ellen Cohen, Vice Chair Joni Baird, and HFSC's Executive Committee attended the proclamations presentation. Join us in celebrating 10 years of incredible service by Dr. Stout and Dr. Castillo!
