This photo popped up as a reminder of my very first wedding as an event planner back in 2012. I thought it would be cute to wear African attire—boy, was I wrong! My wrapper kept falling, and my headtie wasn’t headtie-ing.😂 I soon realized you can’t be cute when you are running all over the place.

But what has always been most important to me is prayer. I knew this wedding wouldn’t be a success without God, so despite the stares, I asked my client if I could pray.

The name "The UpperRoom" for my business wasn’t chosen because it’s a cute name; it has deep biblical significance for what God has called me to do. Since that first wedding, every event I plan begins and ends with prayer, asking God to be the master planner. No event is perfect, but God perfects every event.

There’s a secret not many know: I pray for my clients and their guests. Months before the event and even years afterward, I intercede for everyone who has entrusted me with their celebrations. I ask God to shield them, bless them, and open doors for them. Whether it’s a wedding, a corporate event, or anything in between, if I’m planning it, you can be sure God is all over it.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Believe me, I wasn't upset; I was simply in the zone. I'm not certain what caught my attention, but it definitely wasn't the dress strap I was adjusting.

But man there should be a day where event planners are celebratedoooohhh. Not only have we coordinated or planned the day but we are alarm clocks, time keepers, prayer warriors, counselors, voice of reasoning, body guards, mediators, negotiators, seamstresses, therapist, hair stylist, face patters, best friends, budget masters, confidants, hype person, liaison, director, communicator, peacemaker, dress holder, item locator, luggage packer, gift purchaser, banker, food handler, cake cutter, housekeeper, driver, emergency kit provider, gift packer, guest greeter, reviewer, usher, solicitor, searcher, researcher, problem solver 😅 ......and when it's all done BIG HUGGERS....lol … And we cherish every and I mean everrrryyy moment.😉
