OFF THE CUFF🎤: Not Just the Cowboy Boots

I feel like I kind of live in two completely different worlds sometimes. Because on one hand, I AM the cowboy boots! The jewelry. The sequins. The whole thing.

I love getting dressed, I love the details, I love pulling it all together and making it feel like me. My kids calling me “bougie” is honestly pretty accurate.

But there’s this whole other side of me that a lot of people don’t really see. The one that wants to be outside as much as possible. Like give me the mountains, the ocean, a long hike where I lose track of time.

I’ve loved exploring our national parks. Seeing the monarch butterflies in Mexico was one of the most spiritual experiences I’ve ever had. Akumal and the sea turtles? It just does something to me.

And y’all already know: I will take fishing over just about anything.

No makeup. No blowout. Hair in a bun. Maybe not even a shower if we’re being real.

And I really do love this version of me just as much. Not more. Not less. Just the same.

It’s funny because I don’t feel like I have to choose which one I am depending on the setting. I don’t feel like I’m becoming a different version of myself. It all feels really natural to me. Like all of it exists inside me at the same time.

I can care about every little detail and also be completely content with none of it. I can be dressed up one day and completely undone the next and it still feels like me in both places.

I think what’s funny is most people only ever see one side of me. They don’t always realize this other me exists too.

I’m one day late, but happy Earth Day… and honestly that’s what got me thinking about all of this. How much I really love nature, how much it’s shaped some of my most meaningful experiences, and how important it feels to take care of it. 🌎

And that part of me deserves just as much space as the boots, the jewelry, and the sequins do.
