She sewed clothes
I found leather
But the hands are the same.

This is my first Mother’s Day without my mother.

And yet I feel her everywhere, in the way I hold my standards, in the discipline I didn’t ask for but needed, in every piece I make with intention.

She sat at that sewing machine like it was the most natural thing in the world
It was.

She helped me create my first set of clothes and fabric clutches when I chose to pursue it as one of my loves
She bought every sewing machine I’ve ever used
She came to my first international pop-up. She sat among the bags.
She saw the work.
Some women don’t just raise you.
They become part of what you build.
Today I honor her.

And I honor every woman whose love shows up in what their children create.
