When Roberto Valle rang the bell in the entryway of WorkFaith’s offices, he was close to despair. A banking professional, Roberto had been pushed out of his job in his home country of El Salvador when the economic landscape began to shift there. Suddenly, he found he could no longer afford to live.

In search of better opportunities for himself and his wife, Roberto moved to the U.S. But he faced significant challenges in his years-long job search, the most difficult being that many jobs in the U.S., he found, required English speakers.

Emotionally overwhelmed and feeling hopeless, Roberto decided to seek help from WorkFaith.

Our bilingual instructor, Alex, quickly became Roberto's ally, informing him about our Job Search Accelerator program. From our Spanish JSA class, Roberto not only learned how to properly format his resume, but he gained the support of a loving community and the confidence he needed to continue his job search. This pursuit paid off: not long after attending the JSA class, Roberto started working for a market research company!

After years of feeling depressed, Roberto now feels “alive again.” He is employed, equipped for even greater success in his future, and befriended by a Spanish-speaking community here in Houston that reminds Roberto of how God loves him. And that makes all the difference.
