Most political arguments aren't actually about facts. They're about scale.

One person is looking at a national dataset. Another is looking at what happened to a neighbor, friend, or local community. Both perspectives can provide valuable information, but they answer different questions.

Understanding whether we're discussing individual experiences, local trends, or national outcomes can completely change how we interpret the same number.
Sometimes the most important question isn't whether a statistic is big or small.
It's: Big compared to what?

We tend to think elections are decided on Election Day—but in many cases, the outcome is shaped long before the first vote is cast. District lines determine which voices are grouped together and which are diluted. The map doesn’t just organize voters; it can quietly structure power itself. The question isn’t only who votes—it’s how those votes are arranged.

You can’t spend years normalizing insults, fearmongering, election lies, and division… then suddenly pretend to be the referee of civility. Accountability should never be partisan. If we truly want unity, it starts with truth, consistency, and condemning political violence no matter who does it. Selective outrage isn’t leadership. It’s strategy.
