Today, we honor the incredible legacy of Barbara Charline Jordan, an esteemed alumna of Texas Southern University! 🌟 Barbara Jordan was a trailblazer in American history, becoming the first African American elected to the Texas Senate after Reconstruction and the first Southern African-American woman elected to the United States House of Representatives. Her remarkable journey began right here at TSU, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1956.
Barbara Jordan's dedication to public service and her fight for justice and equality continue to inspire us all. Let's celebrate her contributions and remember the impact of her work on our nation. 🌟
